People always symbolize rain with love, romance, happiness, new hope and calm. Everyone awaits the monsoons with such zeal but very often rains bring with them a darker side of life i.e., death, unhappiness and melancholy. Thunder and lightning in poetry and prose are often used to symbolize that the story is about to take a negative turn, or that untoward events are on the verge of happening.

Sometimes, what is shown in fictional movies becomes a harsh reality. How those dark clouds appear and lead to heavy rainfall and flood-like situations, and so many people die. Maharashtra rains portray these movies' plots very clearly. The government has even announced red alerts in many areas due to heavy rainfall. 

Rains are scary in some parts of India like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Assam etc. Many families lose their breadwinners and children lose their parents. 83 people have died in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra and 63 in Gujarat between June 1 and July 10, 2022.
